Made in Kenya, Based in Manchester, Macharia is a songwriter, performer, and creative facilitator whose music weaves together folk, soul, and storytelling to explore identity, belonging, and emotional honesty. Described as “a voice that carries both power and tenderness,” her sound reflects a deep connection to her roots and a growing presence in the UK’s independent music scene.
Currently, she is part of Soundcheck 2025 with Manchester Jazz Festival, honing her skills in improvisation and collaboration that she hopes to use to develop new work that bridges her Kenyan heritage with contemporary production and songwriting. Her performances highlight her unique ability to connect personal narrative with collective experience.
Her portfolio spans continents: she has collaborated with the Royal Northern College of Music on a commissioned arrangement of the Kenyan National Anthem, appeared on BBC Radio Manchester, and written and directed original music for theatre with Khweva Arts in Nairobi. As an educator, she delivers workshops across the UK, using creativity as a tool for empowerment and storytelling.
Looking ahead, she is developing her debut album as she continues to explore ways to connect audiences through sound, language, and shared stories.
